About Us

Patchworks is a Special Projects Committee of Nanyang Technological University’s Welfare Services Club, one of the three non-academic constituent clubs in Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

Fully run by student volunteers, our objective is to raise funds through various community projects, where proceeds from the ventures will be donated to selected beneficiaries. Through the projects, we aim to provide a platform to encourage interaction between different generations.

We launched our first project - a recipe book titled “Patchwork of Flavours” in 2007. Featuring 38 traditional recipes collected from elders from all walks of life, “Patchwork of Flavours” aims to preserve these valuable recipes and showcase the talents of the older generation. We also conducted a series of cooking classes where students from various secondary schools interacted with elders and benefited from the seniors’ culinary experience. With great support from the public and media, we were able to donate S$10,000 of proceeds from the sales of the book to four of our beneficiaries.

Following the success of the first project, we are now proud to present “Patchwork of Reminiscences” (POR) - the fruit of labour from our dedicated team of volunteers - from the steering committee, our advisors, our writers, our photographers, our editors, and not forgetting, our amiable elders who shared their stories with us.

"Patchwork of Reminiscences" is a heartwarming compilation of true and inspirational stories from the lives of 17 Singaporean senior citizens. It is also our pride and honour to have His Excellency S R Nathan pen the foreword of the book.

The 17 elders featured are the very epitome of courageous men and women who braved the trials and tribulations of life and have emerged strong. ‘Live.Learn.Experience.’ is the very essence we hope to bring to you.  Let their passion, determination and zeal for life inspire you!

Patchworks is delighted to present you this meaningful project for a worthy cause. Each "Patchwork of Reminiscences" book sells at SGD$15. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go to Asian Women's Welfare Association (AWWA) and Kheng Chiu Loke Tin Kee Home. Proceed to order "Patchwork of Reminiscences" now!

We definitely hope you will support this good cause and join us in this amazing journey to discover and experience the touching life stories of these elders! (:
