Our Beneficiaries

Proceeds from the sales of Patchwork of Reminiscences will be donated to the following beneficiaries who provide care and assistance for fellow elders in the society. (:

Asian Women’s Welfare Association (AWWA)

Established in 1976, AWWA Elderly Services is the arm of the Asian Women’s Welfare Association that provides services such as sheltered housing, community-based activities, and rehabilitation and day care services to Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents of senior age.

AWWA Community Home provides accommodation for Singaporeans aged over 60 who are on public assistance or have no family or means of financial support. The organisation provides a network of support for these elders, giving them a sense of independence in their old age.
The AWWA Seniors Activity Centre provides recreational and social activities for senior citizens who live around Block 123, Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6, Singapore.

The AWWA READYCARE Centre provides rehabilitation services to elderly people with physical challenges. The centre also offers day-care services for the elderly.  Counselling is available for family members encountering difficulties in coping with caring for their elderly loved ones.

The proceeds from “Patchwork of Reminiscences” will be donated to a centralised kitchen for the above-mentioned three services. The kitchen provides meals to the residents at a nominal fee.

Kheng Chiu Loke Tin Kee Home, the first charitable organisation set up by the pioneers of the Hainanese community, was established in 1902. Originally known as Loke Tin Kee Medical Institution, its mission was to take care of Hainanese immigrants who were aged and sick.

Today, the home is known as Kheng Chiu Happy Lodge, located at No. 70 Tampines Avenue 4, Singapore 529681 with a capacity for 160 aged and aged destitute who are Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents regardless of race, language or religion.  Its mission was realigned to provide long term independent living, with minimum assistance, for the elderly in the community and to facilitate integration into society.

The programmes of the Home include 1) Resident Involvement Programmes, 2) Community Work Programmes and 3) Social & Recreational Programmes.  The home provides the elderly residents with meals, launderette service, medical and dental consultations. In addition, the home organises activities such as physical and mental stimulation exercises and recreational activities on a regular basis.

The proceeds from “Patchwork of Reminiscences” will support the general operations of Kheng Chiu Loke Tin Kee Home.
